Give partners a clear place to upload files, download files, and fix issues.

Overview

What DTO Flow does

DTO Flow is a Partner File Gateway for recurring business exchanges. Partners get one clear place to upload or collect files, while your team gains agreed expectations, visible status, and actionable feedback.

A good first use case is a file exchange your team already handles every week or month, especially one where missing files, renamed columns, or unexpected values slow people down.

Prepare

Before you start

Gather the simple facts that describe the files partners should upload or download.

  • The file names or descriptions partners will recognize.
  • Recent example files that show the right layout or expected contents.
  • For Excel or CSV files, the columns that must be present for your team to accept them.
  • For ZIP packages or other tracked files, how the file should be named and handled.
  • Any values that should come from a known list, such as status, region, or category.
  • The people who should upload, download, or review the files.
Set up

Create your first feed

A feed is the recurring exchange routine for one or more related partner files. Keep the first feed narrow enough that partners and your team can explain it in plain language.

  1. Open Feeds and choose to create a new file feed.
  2. Give the feed a plain name, such as Monthly inventory exchange.
  3. Add the files partners should upload or download as part of the exchange.
  4. For Excel or CSV uploads, mark required columns and add friendly checks.
  5. For ZIP packages or other tracked files, choose required, optional, or reference-file handling.
  6. Use checks for dates, numbers, accepted values, and duplicates when they matter.
  7. Save the feed and review the summary before inviting partners.
Invite

Invite partners

Partners should only see the feeds they need. Invite the right people, then ask them to try the upload or download flow before the first real period is due.

  • Use partner access to assign the feed to the people who own the file exchange.
  • Tell partners which files they should upload, download, or review.
  • Ask them to fix validation messages in DTO Flow instead of sending revised files by email.
Review

Review the first exchange

The first exchange is where you confirm the flow works for both sides. If an uploaded file fails a check, DTO Flow shows what needs attention so the partner can upload a corrected version.

  1. Open the submission and check the validation result.
  2. If files are accepted, download the accepted originals your team needs.
  3. If a file fails, adjust the feed rules only when the partner's file is actually valid.
  4. Keep the accepted submission as the reference point for the next exchange period.
Operate

Keep work moving

Once the first feed works, make the recurring exchange predictable for both sides.

  • Use periods to see which expected files are ready and which are still missing.
  • Turn on notifications for the people who need to know when files are accepted or late.
  • Add automation when the exchange flow is clear enough for readiness checks, downloads, or webhooks.
  • Create the next feed from another repeatable partner file exchange.
